Are we under a burn ban right now?
"Right now" is exactly what we answer — every county page carries a timestamp for when we last successfully read the source. If the source was unreachable at last check, the county shows Unconfirmed instead of a guessed status.
What counts as a burn ban?
A burn ban is a legal order that prohibits open burning in a specific area. It is issued by a county judge, a parish government, a fire chief, a state forester, or in some states a governor. It is not the same as a National Weather Service Red Flag Warning, which is a weather product describing dangerous fire weather but does not itself prohibit burning.
What if my ZIP is not indexed?
The Session 0 build covers Texas, Ohio, New York, Louisiana and Indiana. If you're outside those states, the national map on the home page shows which regions are tracked (coloured) versus not yet tracked (grey). Grey does not mean "no ban" — it means we don't have data for that area.
